Best iPod Dock Review: (The Apple Universal Dock) – $59.00
Well, they’ve finally done it. produced a 1 dock fits all. Up until recently it seemed that purchasing a New iPod or iPhone meant also being forced to buy another Dock. Not anymore, We have now tested 4 or 5 docks that purport universiality, this is the OEM Apple variety, an Apple Docking Station, and surely they will sell thousands and thousands, should you be one of the purchasers?
Apple Universal Dock
One quick look, and this Apple Docking Station, the uber AppleĀ in the product shows out, the box is elegantly designed and beautiful in it’s own right. The dock is plain, contemporary and Apple through and through. It comes with only the various iPod adapter plates that allow the Apple Universal Dock to be, well, universal.
Like most things Apple there are a few caveats. No AC Wall adapter, No Cable & no remote. Surely not. Admitedly it will happily use your current cable and hence plug into your current adapter or computer, but it would have been nice to have included the 2 so it at least became a stand alone charger. OK, you can let them off the Apple Remote control that is also compatable with this Dock.
The design is convenient, there is no fuss here and obviously it does exactly what it sayd on the tin, sync, charge & play. It has the usual features plus, a S-Video output, so you can watch those movies on a slightly bigger screen.
If you find you need additional adapters they are available in packs of 3 from the Apple Store.
Universal, if it has a Dock Connector, it will fit. This Apple Docking Station has all the bases covered we think.
The Apple Universal Dock
Conclusion:
As we have already said, the Apple Universal Dock will sell by the bucketload, it is very well made, like most things Apple, it does what it should, however, there is one downside, the price. Value wise this is just too expensive. Still, i’d buy one, a Best iPod Dock Best Buy.
5 Stars, Best Apple Docking Station.
